What motivated you to start Letters to Hope at your high school?

As a member and leader of Letters to Hope at Sunnyside High School, I have seen the changes that Letters to Hope has brought to the lives of my community. The simple act of writing letters to those in need has motivated me to continue Letters to Hope at my high school. I, myself, have experienced the joy of this selfless act. With each letter I write, I realize the hardships that people face in their daily lives. Everyone is different. They handle these adversities in their own way. But with Letters to Hope, I can communicate to them that they are not alone, that I can see what they see and feel what they feel. As I continue to grow with this club, I hope that I can also motivate individuals to put themselves in others' shoes and give back to their community.

What drives you to help others?

I've been driven to help others for the reason that it creates happy connections. Many people feel sadness, anger, anxiety, and perhaps fear. But when I help others, I hope to become a positive part of their life. I trust that with their struggles will come beautiful solutions through my relationship with them. To help others, I keep in mind the happy connections that I have already made.

What are your future plans and goals?

My ultimate future goal is to become a cardiothoracic surgeon, serving those who struggle with heart disease. As a growing human being, I've come to realize that my heart has given me so much life. With each breath I take, I remember the best things in life: love, forgiveness, laughter, kindness, and the list goes on. All of these things are priceless assets of life that don't require me to be a certain way. Instead, I can receive life's gifts through being myself in the truest form. With heart disease being a prominent issue in the US and everywhere in the world, I hope to relieve at least a few people's lives, so that they may all enjoy the best things of it. In the future, I plan to bring smiles to people's faces through my profession as a cardiothoracic surgeon.

What are your goals for the Letters to Hope club?

My goal for Letters to Hope at Sunnyside High School is to provide a secure and happy place where people of my community can serve each other. I know that it is very important to have a support system and through Letters to Hope, I hope to support our community of Fresno. In order to achieve these goals and see positive changes, I will try my best to display leadership, so that my club members will have a good example to follow. As well as leadership, I will also encourage my club members to stay involved in the activities and ideas of our club, so that we may all be represented. Through our letters and projects, I aim to strengthen Letters to Hope and give the students at my school a happy place to belong to.

What motivated you to start Letters to Hope at your high school?

Growing up in such a privileged and fortunate location: Bay Area, I am blessed to not have to experience many struggles that others unfortunately do. I wanted to change that. I wanted to help people in need and give them support and encouragement. I believe that every action, even the slightest ones can make an impact and I don’t think there is a more better way to communicate and understand than through words! This is why I was motivated to start Letters to Hope at Burlingame High School.

What drives you to help others?

I find a lot of peace and harmony in helping others. I genuinely enjoy giving up my time knowing that it will make someone’s day. Throughout my time volunteering at Mills Peninsula Hospital, Burlingame and as a peer tutor in my public library, I realized that my small action can sometimes do wonders for others. I want to continue helping others and give hope to those that need it the most.

What are your future plans and goals?

My future plans and goals include finishing high school on a good note and starting college on a positive note. I also want to become more involved with the community. Looking down the road, I hope to become a doctor. I want to able to help people and their families and not feel limited by in what I can do. I want to be able to help people directly. I also want to travel various countries, go skydiving, and learn sign language.

What are your goals for the Letters to Hope club?

While for the Letters to Hope club, I do hope to meet deadlines, my long- term goals include motivating my high school students to participate and providing a sense of unity. I hope for another student(s) to continue the legacy of this club, even when my cabinet members and I have graduated. If our members feel united and safe, that will reflect onto the letters, and make a greater impact.

What motivated you to start Letters to Hope at your high school?

I wanted to help people, and so I thought that a Letters to Hope club would be the perfect way to do it. I knew that there are people in my high school that are passionate about helping people and volunteering and I thought that it would be a nice opportunity for them to do these things.

What drives you to help others?

I want to make the world a better place and I think that the first step is to make other people happy because when a person feels important and motivated, they are more likely to do great things for the world. Also, I think that it is amazing to be the reason someone smiles.

What are your future plans and goals?

I am not sure what I want to do in the future. I think I want to become a teacher or a doctor. But what I know for sure is that I want to do something meaningful for the world, that allows me to work with people and help them.

What are your goals for the Letters to Hope club?

I hope to create a family, to bring together a group of people that understand and care about each other, so we can work together with pleasure and help people in need.

What motivated you to start Letters to Hope at your high school?

Hi! I’m the president of Letters to Hope at Alhambra High School. I was motivated to start Letters to Hope ever since I read what they’d done to help the people around them. This includes writing letters and raising money for ones that need it. It’s incredible that we do this because of all the terrible things that happen in the world today.

What drives you to help others?

I’m driven to help others because of how I feel when I hear something horrible happen to the ones I love like losing their homes or losing a love one. It just makes me want to do whatever I can to help.

What are your future plans and goals?

My future plans and goals are to go to a good college and find a career that I would love to do; where I can put my skills to good use.

What are your goals for the Letters to Hope club?

My goals for the Letters to Hope club are to expand in the amount of members I have at my school and to find more projects that could motivate people to keep on going.
