About Letters to Hope
Letters to Hope is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit and community-based organization that writes encouraging letters to individuals, groups, or communities who are in times of need. We motivate leaders at different middle schools, high schools, and colleges to serve their communities, and many more around the world. We do this by encouraging the leaders at these schools to start a Letters to Hope club. With the guidance of the nonprofit, we hope that each student understands the meaning of empathy.
The world is not perfect. The world has a deep darkness of sorrow because of the things that have been happening around us. We have earthquakes, hurricanes, wildfires, tsunamis, floods, droughts, volcanoes, and violence of human doing. These things we see first hand, or from our televisions never seem to end. We see these things affect our families, friends, and other communities. We see the struggle that these communities go through and wonder, "what can we do?
Letters to Hope started as a club at the University of Cal State East Bay in Hayward, CA. One leader brought her ideas to life, and motivated four other leaders to support the cause of Letters to Hope. All five leaders worked together, and led 50 other students to follow in the same path by pursuing this selfless act. With encouraging letters, we hope that people find it in their hearts to fight through adversity, no matter the circumstance. Because things will always get better, as long as people have faith
